On May 25, 2026, the Swedish Migration Agency announced an important update affecting everyone with a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive. Starting June 11, 2026, you may — in certain cases — apply for another residence permit without leaving Sweden .

✔ You can only have one permit at a time
Your current permit will be revoked once the new one is granted.

Family members may apply for residence permits as dependents.
✔ You must apply before your current permit expires
If you apply in time, you may still receive the new permit even if the old one expires during processing.
